The Paya's Auto Story
It all started back in 1960 when Ed Paya, the founder of Paya's General Repairs, started an auto body shop on Mountain View Road in Williston, Vermont. He did oil changes, brake jobs, undercoating and a handful of other general repairs and body work for the local community. Once business was off the ground, Ed found himself in possession of a few vehicles that needed a home and put them out on his front lawn. Paya's was born.
His son, Chris Paya, worked locally at various establishments while helping out with the family business from a young age. When Ed was looking to retire, Chris decided to try his hand at the business. He quickly found himself running out of vehicles to put on the front lawn. Realizing the demand for quality vehicles at lower prices than the big dealerships on Shelburne Road, Chris decided to put more emphasis on buying and selling quality rebuilt titled vehicles. He would go to auctions with his flatbed tow truck and buy lightly damaged vehicles and bring them home to be repaired multiple times a week. Chris and Paya's Auto quickly gained a reputation at the nearby IBM plant for selling great quality cars for the best price and sales took off. Having the best price and high-quality cars wasn't the only attributes selling the business, but it was Chris' down-to-earth, straight forward and reasonable "Vermonter" personality that also radiated through to customers.
Fast-forward to today and Chris is STILL working here, hand-picking lightly damaged vehicles to repair and sell. Now he has his daughter and son working for him as the business has organically grown into a multi-dealership organization and has a full-Service Center, Salvage Yard and Parts Department. Paya's has sold thousands of cars over the 50+ years, from Maine down to Florida and Bahamas - To Michigan and Hawaii. Paya's appreciates any and all customers that come to us looking for the best value in a high quality used vehicle and will continue to try and serve our local community and those out-of-state to the best of our ability!
